WHY CONSIDER IT
Its recipes feed many equipment paths, including iron, steel, and bone helmets, and it can be made from iron ore or scrap metal.
When it fits: Plan around it when crafting armor or other recipes that call for iron bars.
The tradeoff: Both furnace routes require coal; the scrap metal route uses five pieces per bar.
